Text message program

What messages we send
Staid Health sends text messages to patients of behavioral health practices that use our platform. There are exactly three kinds:
- Sign-in verification codes. A six-digit code sent when you sign in to the patient portal from a new device. The message reads: “Staid verification code: 123456. Expires in 10 min. If you didn’t request this, ignore this message.”
- Portal invitation codes. A six-digit code sent when your clinician invites you to the patient portal. The message reads: “Portal invite code: 123456. Expires in 72 hours.”
- Appointment reminders. Sent before a scheduled appointment. The message reads: “J, reminder: appt Mon, Sep 9, 2:30 PM at [practice name]. Reply STOP to opt out.” — your first initial only, never your full name.
We send no marketing messages of any kind. No message contains protected health information, a diagnosis, a medication, or any treatment detail. Message content is screened before sending and refused if it contains any of those.
How you opt in
Text messages are optional and are never required to receive care.
During patient portal onboarding you are shown a Communication Preferences form. Under the heading “I authorize contact via” there is a checkbox labeled “Text message (SMS)”. It is unchecked by default. You opt in by checking that box and signing the form. The signed form is stored in your patient chart, and appointment reminders are sent only to patients who have checked it.
Verification and invitation codes are transactional messages sent as part of securing access to your own records, at the moment you or your clinician request access. Immediately before your first verification code is sent, the portal displays:
We will send a 6-digit verification code to your phone on file. Standard message and data rates apply. Reply STOP to opt out.

How to stop
You can stop messages at any time by any of these:
- Reply STOP to any message. Messages stop immediately.
- Uncheck “Text message (SMS)” on a re-signed Communication Preferences form.
- Contact your clinician directly.
Reply HELP to any message for help, or contact us using the details below.
Rates and frequency
Message frequency varies and depends on your appointment schedule and how often you sign in. Message and data rates may apply. Staid Health does not charge for text messages; your mobile carrier may.
Your mobile information
Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. Phone numbers are used only to deliver the three message types described above.
